As a news journalist for WomenNewsNetwork Lys Anzia has been covering stories about women around the globe for UN agencies and their affiliates through UN-INSTRAW - United Nations International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women and WUNRN - Women’s UN Report Network.
In 1979, Lys was the first woman on the programming board for Public TV Channel 12 KBDI in Denver, CO. She was co-creator, in 1981, of Colorado’s “Nexus Magazine.”
After an early career in training for public radio broadcasting with Pacifica affiliate station WPFW in Washington, DC, Lys continued her interest in radio at NPR affiliate station KGNU in Boulder, CO.
After writing for some years as a historical American playwright , Lys’ play JACKS, about Jackie Kennedy and the JFK assassination, was performed simultaneously on the 40th anniversary of the assassination in 2003 at numerous theatre locations nationwide. One production at the Fremont Theatre in Los Angeles starred F. William Parker, from NBC PrimetimeTV show - The West Wing, and Rob Moran, from NBC Network - Days of Our Lives.
In addition to writing international news for women, Lys is working today as a correspondent for international radio syndicate WINGS and is also contributing book reviews editor for UNESCO award winning Moondance Magazine.
For the last five years, Lys has been an active member of the Boulder Media Women, a Colorado based professional group of over 300 women publishers, publicists, authors, editors, filmmakers, playwrights, TV & radio producers and writers.
